Well this was just delightful! Just to add one “fact”: according to the kids’ show Phineas and Ferb, this “semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action” become a secret agent when our backs are turned—or at least Perry the Platypus does!
I went digging through hours of Australian rainforest to reach a renowned platypus hotspot once, only to find nothing (but a barely-touched spot of nature heaven).
The next week, we bumped into an absolutely adorable man and his sausage dog - Neville - who monitors a population of platypus near his house. Took us straight to them. Weren’t even looking for them then.
They’re the most delightful creatures to o serve. So busy, so fun.
Thank you so much for this information on the Platypus. I've long known of their existence but not all the very interesting facts. so, thank you again for this 'illuminating' piece.

Ha! Of course! How could I forget to mention the platypus' spy career?
As someone who considers himself somewhat of a platypus aficionado, I can happily say this was great. Bravo :)

Incredible! I hope to one day behold a platypus in the wild!
